The new survivor series “Apocalypse Man” on history Channel is another series in which Rudy Reyes, a handsome ex-Marine informs his viewers with the secrets, how to survive after the Armageddon.

History channels present the series “Apocalypse Man” in their Armageddon week. The “Apocalypse Man” was aired on History Channel this Wednesday, 6th Jan, 2010 at 9:00 P.M.

Here is a positive start for the year 2010. The Armageddon Week on History Channel showcased the “Apocalypse Man”, but before that “Apocalypse Island”, “Life after People”, “Death of a Nation”, “Lost Art” and 10,000 Years after Human. The list does not end here then comes “After Armageddon” and last but not least “Apocalypse Man”.

The island in the centre of the Pacific Ocean that was named “Apocalypse Island” holds the key to the Mayans’ prediction of apocalypse for the year 2012.

According to the Mayans’ prediction “maybe a myth” if we have only 2 years left to live or until the end of the world, it would be better to start preparing for the time.

The website for History Channel states that “the end is near”. At least that’s what Nostradamus, the Book of Revelation, Mayans’ prediction, and several others make us believe.

On the other hand several unsettling global forecasts destructions pinpoint the year 2012 as the end of the world. If that is so then I think we should thank Rudy Reyes, “Apocalypse Man” for helping us.

History channels show “Apocalypse Man” with host Rudy Reyes, who provides us the guidance for the moment in the future, when a catastrophe sticks leaving the man clueless to find food, shelter, heat, water and defence.

The host of Apocalypse Man” shows us the techniques to survive using the limited resources, such as how to make fire from steel wool, how to find a safe house and the technique of creating a shortwave radio.

Good to see someone had info on this show! Thank you! i will say though, hes not an EX marine, hes a former Marine. Once a Marine, Always a Marine.

Wow…. if you do what this guy says you will die, or be killed. I have never seen worse survival advice since “duck and cover”…. the fact that he tell you to waste time on a diesel backup generator in a hospital to get power, which he never uses for anything, and then tells you that you have 4-5 hours of power off of one gallon of diesel… come on. When diesel motors run out of fuel they almost always need to have the air purged out of the fuel lines, he show you none of this, he just pours a gallon of fuel in it and flips a switch… In an Apocalypse situation City’s will become the most dangerous places on earth. He doesn’t show you anything that will help survive for any length of time, just how to loot things that will keep you going for another day or do, and we all know what can happen when you loot…. you are just begging to get shot. Very disappointed by this show.

“chiiilllll, Winnn- ston”(David)- its an entertainment show.designed to give the totally “clueless” some idea, and to be honest, its just showing folks things they’d probably figure out by themselves,or in groups- in a disaster like Katrina, the best thing to do is EVAC from the area ASAP or get to the highest ,driest ground possible and hold out “until”. But the truth is , any situation, i.e. warfare, contagion, earthquake, flood, it would probably be wiser to get out of the cities( which most would do anyway) If this were a “zombie land” or ” the book of Eli” scenario- the best thing you could have is :

      1) Good shoes ( boots) and a jacket
      2) Guns or some type of weapon
      3) portable knives/tools
      4)fire starting implements
      5) maps/tourguide books
      6) some type of first aid kit
7)Water( or some way to locate it)

        Agreed, GMan.

I’d add a rucksack or something in which to carry some supplies, change of socks(you know if you let your feet go, you aren’t going to get ANYWHERE and then where does all of that knowledge get you?), etc. @David, his idea of a hospital isn’t that bad of an idea if you can get the security system working, providing that the situation isn’t one where a EMP device was used. Then the newer generations of technology will never work. The generator can at least give you some light and a chance to gather your thoughts to plan what to do next. True, a gallon of fuel isn’t going to do much but to those who haven’t gone through any sort of training or had taken the time to prepare ahead of time…..it’s better than nothing. I think it would be better had they let him use a real life scenario that the majority of us could say, “now there’s useful info” to those we care about.

Totally preying on stupid ppl and stirring up fear factor. Today you don’t even need good actors, just air time. The A-Team would eat this for breakfast.

I watched the show and enjoyed it although some of the above criticism is valid. I read a book called Live Off The Land In The City And Country by Ragnar Benson on this subject that I highly recommend. The SAS Survival Guide by John Wiseman is also very good. I did enjoy the way Apocalypse Man started the fire using a 9 volt battery and steel wool.
