The title ruled the cyber as well as print world as soon as the viral video featuring Czech President Vaclav Klaus surfaced in which Czech President was shown discreetly pocketing a ceremonial pen during his visit to Chile. The netizens termed the move a THEFT.
The video is captioned, “The Czech Republic’s president steals a pen” in which Klaus is shown praising the pen during a press conference with Chilean counterpart Sebastian Pinera and then he took the pen under table where seemingly he put it into his pocket.
The video has received more than 100000 hits during two days creating a media stir where internet world was searching for the video and television news shows and papers were splashing the video on their front pages with captions like, ‘Czech President Vaclav Klaus is a THIEF’
Daily Mlada Fronta Dnes wrote, “Even though protocol allows Klaus to take the pen, with which the foreign minister signed a transport agreement, as a souvenir, Internet users are branding the Czech president as a thief,”
Radim Ochvat, the spokesperson for the Czech president has said that President has all the right to take that pen adding that presidents and their delegates get such things on state visits. He said that they at Prague Castle gave such pens to the visiting delegates with a notepad.
