CNN, Cable News Network, the first News Channel provided round the clock service is now on the news itself. It has been reported that Heidi Collins, the dedicated, committed and hardworking news caster with charming personality is leaving CNN. It has been revealed that Heidi Collins leaving CNN on 15th January 2010 and today would be her final settlement day at CNN.
It has been confirmed the dayside anchor Heidi Collins is leaving CNN in result of major changes and shuffling on the anchor roster s at CNN. CNN hasn’t renewed the contract of Heidi Collins without providing any details and reasons. Heidi Contract with CNN was due to be renewed so Heidi Collins will not be associated with the CNN anymore
One of the CNN spokesman speak about the Heidi Collins and said Heidi Collins will be leaving CNN, after serving for seven year with all her dedication and best of her ability, CNN admires her tenure in the organization and thank her for her contributions for the Channel. CNN wish Heidi Collins best for her future.

It has been reported that Kyra Phillips will be replacing Heidi Collins for the daytime news updates.
It is quite noticeable that Heidi Collin didn’t speak about her mysterious departure or her future plans and CNN is also avoiding any explanations on the departure of Heidi Collins.

What a loss!!! She was simply one of the best!!!! I will NOT watch Velchi or Sanchez–they are two of the most obnoxious people on TV
I agree this is a great loss. Heidi Collins and Anderson Cooper are the only two worthy of watching. Velchi’s appearance is so distracting and he has no class. Heidi Collins was a class act. I’m switching to MSNBC.
I can not believe Heidi Collins did not have her contract renewed. I am very disappointed with CNN. She is such professional and reassuring presence on the daytime lineup . CNN does not seem to appreciate mature presenters. I have been a loyal fan of CNN since the early days but CNN does not seem to appreciate loyalty so perhaps it’s time for me to move on too.
Tesesa and Shari I agree completely. I too am a great fan of CNN but two hours of the moron Tony Harris followed by two hours of Velshi – Oh my God, revolting. I shall definitely be moving on for these four hours, which for us on the west coast is the whole morning. But then we get Rick for two hours, not as revolting as the other two but I will not be missing anything if I don’t switch him on. So, from a west coast point of view there is now no point of turning on CNN till 2:00pm. Wow, what a let down. Guess I will have to become an insomniac and watch John Roberts and Kiren Chetry – they are a class act.
Teresa, Shari and LAH, I could not have said it better. Kyra cannot begin to carry Heidi’s cup of coffee, yet alone perform to the degree that Heidi did day in and day out. We will miss you Heidi. Let us know where you are going and we will switch to that channel. Evidently CNN does not want your fan’s business. May you and your son Riley move on to great things. Best Regards, George
I live in California and I automatically tune to CNN at 6am every morning to watch Heidi Collins. Of all the morning anchors, she is the most professional. I can’t believe CNN would let a person of her caliber go. Bad move CNN.
I am sad and disappointed to see Heidi Collins leave CNN. I don’t know where I’ll go. Perhaps MSNBC.
I’ve watched Heidi since living in Colorado in 1995. She has always been professional and a pleasure to watch, unlike the Barbies on at other times and on other stations. Maybe her boobs weren’t big enough and she didn’t flirt with the business audience like a 16 year old school girl as others do. But as for brains, looks, professionalism and a serious approach to informing people, she did a great job. CNN lowers the bar once again.
Heidi Collins gave us the news without flippiant comments, eye-rolling, expressions of horror and dismay, opinionated pursing, hair tossing or any other garbage we now see in “news.” She was as direct as Walter Cronkite and likely that was her end. Too bad — the last professional, adult female news anchor leaves. Breanna Keiler, who actually says things like “Well, that isn’t my place to say, but what is being reported is… has also had some good journalism training and keeps her opinions to herself. There may be hope in her.
Heidi Collins is the best female reporter/anchor CNN had. She was professional and believable, when she spoke you know it was the truth….CNN i am sure you will lose many viewers over this….BAD MOVE on your part……Bring her back.
You have now firmly established the fact that NBC is not the only collection of progamming tv maladroits in the business. In letting Heidi Collins go and expanding the roles of Ali Velshi and Rick Sanchez, you have managed to install two of the most irritating personalities on tv in place of a very pleasant, knowledgeable, and professional anchor. Heidi Collins was one of the only voices of sanity on the network, whereas Velshi is an aggravating motor mouth and Sanchez is one of the most cocky, self-important, immature anchors on television. I always enjoyed Heidi Collins because she was very positive and projected the sense that what you were hearing from her was an honest and unaffected delivery of the news without all the posturing and innuendo of most of today’s anchor claptrap. I have always tuned in to Heidi and made a point of turning off Velshi and Sanchez. Now that she is gone and they each occupy a full two hours of your programming, I have little reason to tune in CNN at all. Goodbye.
CNN made a bad move in not renewing Heidi Collins’ contract. She was the best anchor they had. Several others should be gone way before Heidi!
Didn’s she win multiple Edward R. Murrow awards. Wasn’t she invited to be one of the small number of journalists for Department of Defense Air Force press conferences?
CNN is losing one of the better anchor personalities on television.
I hope she isn’t suffering any medical issues.
YOU’RE MAKING A HUGE MISTAKE. GIVING RICK SANCHEZ ANOTHER HOUR WILL DRIVE ME AWAY. HE’S FULL OF HOT AIR AND HIMSELF.
what a loss…I can’t believe it. She is one of the most credible and honest anchors….I woke up each morning, early, just to watch the news with her. She will be sorely missed.
Meanwhile, tell Kyran Chetry to get a new hairdo…..
big big mistake..classy professional great anchor…CNN is losing one of their best and for the likes of Rick Sanchez they should be ashamed …they will lose a lot of viewers count me as one of them!
She was my favorite CNN reporter and her even keeled yet empathetic reporting will be missed! I wonder what she will do next!
i am SO UPSET that heidi is gone! i refuse to watch kyra! heidi was professional, funny, really personable, and i’m very disappointed in cnn, especially since i love them as a network. not renewing her contract was a HUGE mistake
Heidi Collins leaving is a travesty, her journalistic qualities out shined many of the other news anchors in the morning. Sanchez is a waste of time and skin with his constant alluding to ‘get ready and watch this most amazing video and or audio’ is more annoying than anyone can stand. Heidi has class and professionalism and will surely find a place for her voice and ability to convey an unbiased and non political view of what she reports. I will look for her wherever she may land. CNN has lost an irreplaceable commodity.
bebe blount summed it up nicely: “”CNN made a bad move in not renewing Heidi Collins’ contract. She was the best anchor they had. Several others should be gone way before Heidi!”" This is reminiscent of the mysterious departures of Lou Waters & Natalie Allen back in ’01. There’s a place for the Rick Sanchez’s & Ali Velshi’s: As a bit of a twist to solid news reporting, which is what Heidi Collins provided, not a replacement of it.
Bad move CNN!! Heidi was a breath of fresh air every morning in her presentation of the news.
What is going on??? I’ve been trying to figure out why HC hasn’t been on in her normal time. I looked online to see what time they moved her to and found out she is gone!! Why?? She was the hottest hottie on tv!! The voice, the hair, those legs….I can believe CNN would let her go. Hope HC is well, and hope to see her on my tv again soon!!
One of the things I liked most about Heidi was that she reported the news without flippent remarks and in a respectable and professional manner. We got to hear the news not the expounding and pompous demeanor of the anchor, continously interrupting the news to hear him/her self. Now she is gone and CNN you have lost a great anchor. Your loss will certainly be someone else’s gain, tooo bad for you.
What has CNN done? Heidi Collins is professional, intelligent, has a great personality and you can’t hold it against her that she just happens to be drop-dead gorgeous!
My hope is that Heidi Collins has many job opportunities awaiting her. She was amazingly talented and I looked forward to her report each morning. I appauld Sanje for saying good-bye to her on the air and Heidi’s composure during that interaction illustrated her professionalism. I hope to see her again someday soon as she has a talent that is of benefit to the world and this gift needs to be utilized.
Glad to see the well-earned love for Ms. Collins. She’s one of the best TV presenters I’ve ever seen. Hope she’s healthy and I wish her the best.
I thought Heidi was just out on a vacation or something. I started to get the drift when the Kiera who’s dating John is doing her hours and not saying “filling in for Heidi Collins”. It’s a loss, but I will not watch the over liberal MSNBC and definitely will not watch Faux News. I can only take a little of Ali and Rick is alright. I suppose it could be she asked for more or wanted to make a change. I will agree with those of you that point out Heidi strictly read the news. She did not tear up, change her tone or try to imply her impression of the stories she was relating. A talent that is long lost. Do most of you agree that News programming has become an opinion show vs introduction of releases or of the filed field reports. I suppose CNN to maintain viewership will have to do more opinion/celebrity news anchor op eds like the other two mentioned above.
Is there a brain-neutralizing viral infection spreading among network and cable executives? The pink-slipping of Hedi Collins just does not stack-up! She’s extremely attractive, articulate and has a great presence on-air. Unless I’m missing something…perhaps she didn’t kiss ass or put-out…this is a huge faux pax on the part of CNN.
For those of us who are Independants or moderates, Heidi Collins was a breath of fresh air, maybe CNN is going the route of Fox and needs News people who are opiniated and express it on the air. Heidi IS a true professional in reading the news. She reports the facts without the flippancy of some of the other readers. She looks at the camera as if she is speaking to you, which is not the case of some of the readers who never look at the camera, and she didn’t look like each of the other K’s that I can’t tell apart.
It is a great disappointment to learn that Heidi will not be anchoring the 9-11 time slot for CNN. She is a true professional that reported the story and did not try to insert herself in the story or sensationalise as others at CNN try to do.
I sincerely hopes that she lands another anchor assignment that is broadcast from 9-11am so that I can enjoy her reporting once again.
Where did she go?!?!?!?! We have to find her! If anyone knows what she will be doing next, please say something.
Getting rid of Heidi with no explanation! This is more like something FOX would do. Shame on CNN. We will no longer be watching in the morning.
Big mistake CNN. Heidi was and will still be the best on some other network that will further lower your presious ratings, mark my words!
I had been expecting Heidi Collins to return to her spot. Finally I decided to research the mysterious disappearance only to discover she will not be returning. Who ever is in charge must be a bumbling fool. She had the total package as a newscaster and enjoyable to watch as well. There are only two other anchors worth viewing in my opinion Wolf and Anderson. That is it for me MsNBC here I come. I trust some other station picks up Heidi Collins, she is such a superior anchor. Those other women could do well to at least to pick up on how well manicured her appearance was.
I agree with Joan. Heidi Collins not only had the “total package” as a newscaster, but she also was a great role model and set the bar higher for those to follow. CNN has made some horrible choices concerning Soledad O’Brian, Daryn Kagen, and now, Heidi Collins, and appears to have a problem with bright capable women. Now I am making my choice, MSNBC, here I come!
