It was the night of 28th June in 1993, when N.Y state trooper Deborah Spaargaren and Sean Ruane started the chase of a Mazda pickup at 3:00 A.M, without knowing that the person they are chasing is the one of the most notorious killer of United States Joel Rifkin. When the flashing lights of state troopers police car was unable to stop the driver with no rare licence plates, they used the cars’ loudspeaker to order the Joel Rifkin to stop, but he sped up his Mazda on the street of Wantagh.
At the time of the chase both state troopers were unaware of the fact that the person they are chasing has killed over nine women, although among these women were mostly drug addicted prostitutes. The N.Y state trooper Deborah Spaargaren and Sean Ruane called for backup, so that this let lose driver could be handcuffed sooner. Five more police patrolling cars joined in the hot pursuit, just before Joel Rifkin crashed his Mazda pickup truck in a telephone pole, after missing a turn in Mineola.
Joel Rifkin did not resist his arrest and gave in at once. Cops searched him for weapons and just found a knife in his pocket.
It was later revealed that Joel Rifkin, who was the resident of East Meadow, Long island use to hire prostitutes from Manhattan and Brooklyn area only to kill those with drug addiction problem. He killed nine women between 1989 and 1993 in N.Y City.
In 1994 Joel Rifkin was found guilty of killing nine innocent women and was sentenced to 203 years in prison. He is currently serving time at the Clinton Correctional Facility.
