KID ‘N PLAY were at THE MO’NIQUE SHOW last night. The late eighties popular duo Kid ‘n Play is famous for hip-hop and comedy. Kid ‘n Play comes after Christopher Kid Reid who was born in The Bronx in April 1964 and Christopher Play Martin who was born in Queens in 1962. The duo is equally known for their acting along with their music career.
Kid ‘n Play together has had produced three albums. Their first album was 2 Hype that was released in 1987. Their second album Kid ‘n Play Funhouse was released in 1990 and their third album Face the Nation was in the market in 1991. All three albums were laden with positive songs having pop friendly instrument behind all these tracks.
Among their popular singles are Rollin’ with Kid ‘n Play that captured number 11 at the Billboard R&B chart, their Funhouse was at number one on the Billboard rap singles chart and Ain’t Gonna Hurt Nobody was also at number one.
Reid’s trademark was hi-top fade haircut that stood ten inches high at their peak whereas Martin regularly worn eight ball jackets on his shows. These trademarks but Kid ‘n Play were also known for their Funky Charleston dance or Kid and Play that was influenced by 1920 era dance move, but unlike original Charleston this Funky Charleston need two instead of one dancer.
The Funky Charleston gained popularity from the movie House Party in which Tisha Campbell and A.J Johnson fell into an impromptu dance competition during the memorable moments of this movie.
