Pat Robertson Haiti Earthquake

  • Sharebar

The famous TV commentator and gospeller Pat Robertson is appearing to have caused a bit of hullabaloo and annoyance just after giving numerous disgusting comments about the devastating earthquake that smacked Haiti, the Caribbean Island, on Tuesday.

According to a news report on Fox40.com, all this happened when Pat Robertson, during the transmission of Pat Robertson’s “The 700 Club” on the Christian Broadcasting Network, made his remarks on the Haiti Earthquake saying “The people of Haiti swear a pact to the devil years ago”. “Haiti earthquake may well have been a direct consequence, of ‘satanic pact’ of the people of Haiti” finally a conclusive comment by Pat Robertson.

He is not ashamed on his unhelpful behavior because those weren’t the only comments he made in light of the Haiti earthquake. According to an earlier report, Pat Robertson described the Haiti earthquake as “a blessing in disguise” while he was talking to a reporter from “CBN News”.

As anyone can envision news of the gospeller’s comments spread through public networking sites such as Twitter, causing huge anger and revulsion among the public.

As a result a Twitter user told “May God forgive us for the times we make mistakes like Pat Robertson and fail to show compassion for the poor,” while one more Twitter user explained Pat’s comments as uncooperative, counter-gospel and awkward.

I am still in confusion that either Pat Robertson’s behavior on Haiti earthquake is just a publicity stunt or he was out of his mind while he was passing such comments.

Pat Robertson has lost what little mind he has. What a tool. I bet he was kicking a puppie while he was making those stupid remarks. May God have mercy on HIS soul.

Again, the religious fanatics can say anything they want, but we cannot say anything against their views, and I find them offensive. I think he never did have a mind, it was washed years ago with religious propaganda. Our moms always told us that if we couldn’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all, apparently Robertson didn’t listen to his mom. There is no help for his soul. He will perish souless…just like he lives his life.

this is standard for Pat Robertson, every time people are dying, like during Hurricane Katrina, or on 9/11 he says bad things about them and then laughs at them. I am sure that when he dies he knows where he is going.

“out of his mind while he was passing such comments” is an extremely charitable comment. The man is a nutcase — the only “blessing in disguise” here is that more people will become aware of just how deranged this extremely dangerous “religious” demagogue’s thought processes are.

I hope that Hell exists so that he can rot in it for eternity.

God’s name while speaking the words fed to you by the antichrist himself. You are the wolf the Jesus spoke of. You lead 1000′s of sheep who believe your words are of Christ. When the truth is you are a messenger of satan and an abomination among those who love our Lord. You are the reason the Book of Revelation tells us that Jesus will have a problem with over half of the churches on his planet when he returns. For these churches are in reality the den’s of Satan, deceiving millions. The quake in Haiti as well as the other large quake and natural disasters we are witnessing are the signs of the times as predicted in Matthew by Jesus. Period. You incite hate in the name of God and woe to you my friend. For you will surely have hell to pay.

you don’t know where he was coming from. That is like me assuming you are condeming him for his comment when you don’t know where he was coming from. He made a statement that according to scriptural basis may be true. People are hurting , but honey people are hurting all over the world and no chrisitan is asking LORD why. Research what he said in Haitian history in light of scripture and think about it.

    Dutty Boukman
    From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
    Jump to: navigation, search
Dutty Boukman was a houngan, or vodoun priest whose death was considered a catalyst to the slave uprising that marked the beginning of the Haïtian Revolution.[1]

2 Ceremony at the Bois Caïman
    3 Death and legacy

    [edit] Background
Boukman was born in Jamaica, and later sold by his British master to a French plantation owner, who put him to work as a commandeur (slave driver) and, later, a coach driver. His French name came from his English nickname, “Book Man,” which he earned due to his ability to read.

[edit] Ceremony at the Bois Caïman
On 22 August 1791, Boukman presided in the role of houngan (priest) together with an African-born priestess and conducted a ceremony at the Bois Caïman and prophesied that the slaves Jean François, Biassou, and Jeannot would be leaders of a slave revolt that would free the slaves of Saint-Domingue. A pig, which symbolized the wild, free, and untamable spiritual power of the forest and the ancestors, was sacrificed, an oath was taken, and Boukman and the priestess exhorted the listeners to fight bravely against their oppressors. Days later the Haitian Revolution began.[2] Boukman was not the first to attempt a slave uprising in Saint-Domingue, as he was preceded by others, such as Padrejean in 1676, and François Mackandal in 1757. However, his large size, warrior-like appearance, and fearsome temper made him an effective leader and helped spark the Haitian Revolution.[3]

    [edit] Death and legacy
Soon after the uprising began, French authorities captured Boukman and executed him by beheading. The French then publicly displayed Boukman’s head in an attempt to dispel the aura of invincibility that Boukman had cultivated. However it remained strong, and their attempt failed.

A fictionalized version of Boukman appears as the title character in American Communist writer Guy Endore’s novel Babouk, a leftist and anti-capitalist parable about the Haitian revolution.

Haitians honored Boukman by admitting him into the pantheon of loa (Vodou spirits).[4]

Now since no one practices Voodoo or any other pagan practice , you have no idea what was said or promised at this ceremony if there was one. I would at least expect people with half a brain to research it all out . what does the bible say about practicing witchcraft , it curses the land, sin curses the land. If that is how that nation was founded what do you think? I just think there is more to this “legend”. My ex husband was haitian and told me stories about his uncle who was the high voodoo priest in Haiti before he and his family came to the states. So I wouldn’t doubt this story is true. I could see if people researched Voodoo practices and such. And one more thing , it doesn’t matter how much or how many christians are in a land. The bible says “If the people who are called by my name humble themselves and pray then I will hear from heaven and HEAL THEIR LAND” so maybe it’s time for a pray movement in Haiti. I am not saying GOD did it, but the wages of sin is death . If that nation did not have someone who prayed for forgiveness for their ancestors issues . Anyway just research both sides before you assume anything.

These things happen not because God wants them.. but God allows them. and I agree with Pat’s comment in a way that God will punish those who disobeys Him. He punishes them and protects those who loves Him. Now, it may sound unfair.. but this is one way, for people to realize that these things indeed happen because we have done something wrong… i dont know what it is.. but God knows what.. in these times, God wants you to put your full trust in Him.. the bigger the problem simply means the bigger your faith should be. After this, God will bless the people in haiti and will turn things around. Pat should have made 2 points when he commented.. it’s hard to explain in social networking sites such as twitter wherein you are limited to words.
Let’s just pray for those families in Haiti. God will use both friends and enemies to heal the land.
that;s for sure. in no time, the nation will rebuild itself. with pride and love.. and with God.

    God bless us all!

I don’t think God “punishes” people for doing something wrong–if that were true, your “Savior”‘s coming would be completely pointless. The whole point of Jesus’ death is so that God won’t be vengeful any more, right? Seems pretty dumb to die for people’s sins if they STILL have to be punished for them afterwards.

…JESUS didn’t die so you wouldn’t be accountable for your sins afterwards.HE’S a lawgiver and like every law made, there’s a consequence for violating them.HE died so everyone would be forgiven and enter heaven upon their passing IF they accept HIM as savior.HIS death paved the way for freedom from consequence. Its not automatic. We each have to choose for ourselves. If we deny HIM,then upon your demise, your eternally lost.HIS return is to take the remaining forgiven (HIS CHILDREN) and pour out HIS vengeance on the remaining unbelievers…..Its always a good idea to study a subject before you open your mouth.

Are you saying that you know the heart of those in Haiti and the state of their soul . You and Pat of course. I think that Jesus would weep at what has been said in his name this week. These poor are closer to his heart than you or I or anyone living in this land of riches. Where even the poorest poor live in luxury next to an average Haitian. I pray for those whose hearts have so filled with themselves that they cannot see the dying in front of them and those poor babies who cannot sin suffer so greatly.

Hey DP.I agree that God allows things to happen and many of those things for his purposes and ultimately for our benefit. However, for him to quote a legendary story that I heard about 25 years ago and that is steeped in Haitian folklore and call is a “true story” is foolish. How could he possibly verify the veracity of that story and if it ever happened. Is every society/people group who revolted against oppression doomed to unimaginable suffering for generations? Ezekiel 18:20 says” The person who sins will die. The son will not bear the punishment for the father’s iniquity, nor will the father bear the punishment for the son’s iniquity; the righteousness of the righteous will be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked will be upon himself.” Whatever Toussaint L’Ouverture said to the devil, whatever deal he made can not supersede how God operates so Dale Prizer, Pat Robertson and all those others who spin this story are not doing the advancing of God’s kingdom any favors. Perhaps the real test of times like these is to see what the people who name the name of Christ will really do. Will we serve above and beyond? Will we pray and really ask God to move on behalf of those who are suffering? Will we twist scripture and mix in folklore to sound like we have a secret line to the Almighty? How ever if Pat is right….DP I hope you living right cause if you are not your family and those who come after you are in for it.

Pat Robertson does not believe n the sovereignty of God, but of the devil. Since he is the devil’s messenger, he must have informed him about it. The Name of God is ‘blasphemed’ because of such spirits of anti-Christs.

This man cannot backtrack on his comments claiming to have misheard the word/name Hades for the name Haiti. He clearly talks about the countries history and “the pact”. In my opinion, he knew exactly what, and where he was talking about. He is a great disgrace to any church and I trust that the world will see to it that he is held accountable for his comments.

May God bless the people of Haiti at this time.

The Bible repeats over and over that every event, including natural disasters, is under God’s control and works perfectly for His purpose. When something like this happens, a Christian should ask why. Why did God in His perfect love do this? There must be a really good explanation. And if you have retained some ability to think critically and spend a minute googling Haiti, you will find out that the country is one of the world’s dominant centers or evil cults like woodoo. Makes more sense now? Yet we prefer to close our eyes to the truth because we feel sorry for the people.

This story made it very clear how few true Christians are. Those “Christians” who disagree with Robertson’s comments don’t even bother to open the Bible and base their ignorant opinions exclusively on their worldly upbringing. Sad and scary.

I suggest get Pat’s full transcript of the program. Analyze it one by one. For me, I can’t find a condenming or self-rigtheous statement.

I chose to react not negatively towards Pat. But, Some reacted negatively.

Even if I will talk to other Christians or Christian from other churches. I will not put down him [Pat Robertson] down in this case. Because, I believe, he was MISUNDERSTOOD, MISINTERPRETED and MISQUOTED….

Pat Robertson said, “They need to have and we need to pray for them, a great turning to God and out of this tragedy, I am optimistic something good may come….”

Pat Robertson is another money grabbing so called evangelist, much like the folks who you see on another network of their own. Trinity Broadcast Network or TBN. All they ever ask for is money. ever notice their production sets. Gold Gold everywhere. I’m sorry but extravagence iin that genre is sad. Religion was never ment to fill the pockets of a few. It’s for everyone. To give what you can afford. Not what they think you should give.

Pat Robertson is one of those bible beating bunko artists that give Christianity a bad name and as long as fools keep filling his coffers, he’ll keep spouting his self revealing, hypocritical, demented nonsence. If he is an example of today’s Christian leadership in this country, 2012 can’t come soon enough.

  18. Chris

Frankly, I don’t see that Christians have a right to be inflamed by Robertson’s comments. They believe in a God that condemmed all of mankind for the “sin” of one man, a sin God knew he was going to commit (if you believe the story). And what was the sin? Picking an apple from the Tree of Knowledge–yikes! This same loving God asks for proof of obiedence by asking a father to kill his child. And then, fed up with his creation, he drowns everyone–including all those sinning babies and toddlers. . . . This is the God who said: Thou shalt not kill. . . . I think the Bible exactly reflects what is going on with Pat Robertson. It’s a projection of man’s atempts to come to terms with existence flavored with a lot of wish fullment fantasy. In fact, I believe in God: the order of the universe points that way, and in my view it’s a moral universe. Why else would we even feel compassion for the suffering? We have a conscience and intuition, and to me that’s as close as you’re going to come to divine guidance. I was raised a Christian but reaching middle age has taught me just how suspect anything any man posits as certainty really is. Oh yes, I’m a foster parent. If I treated my special needs guy (and according to the bible isn’t he possessed of evil spirits?) the way God treats his people, I’d be thrown in jail–and should be. If Christians really want society restored to biblical proportions, we’d still be stoning people to death. We don’t, not becase God or Jesus said it’s wrong, but because our consciousness tells us its inhumane. And then we scowl at those backward Arabs. Hippocrates. They’re living closer to the law of God than you are. Yes, I know, Jesus came to put an end to the law. Then stop quoting the Old Testament! Thanks for listening, those who bothered to read this. Peace to all. God is rolling His/her eyes at everybody :)

There is a special place in HELL for him..wheather he believes it or not…Someone should of placed him in a burlap bag when he was spit out, and placed in a creek…with ties..the world would of been a better place and the elderly would’nt of been cheated out of their earnings,

Pat doesn’t know the Truth to begin with so I don’t know why so many listen to him. Maybe because he tells others what they want to hear and not the truth, like many rich evangelists. If he were to look at America he would be predicting something worse for this Nation. A Nation that has banned the name of Jesus from being said during congressional prayer. A Nation that has baned God’s laws from being displayed in public. A Nation that thrives on greed, sex and millions are committing adultery. So maybe he should look at himself and his own country and not worry about what others are doing. .

As a former youth minister his words scare me. I believe 100% that if Jesus were walking the earth today He would have been the first person on a plane to offer help to those who are suffering NO MATTER what condition their soul may be in. Read the Gospels- He spent so much time hanging with the poor, diseased and troubled… The true nature of God is not to “punish” but to love people… the earth is changing as the Bible said it would to get ready for things to come… but while we as christians are here we had better not turn the other cheek to give whatever we can to help (whether that be clothes, money or just prayer) to those in need. How else can we reach out to people but to truly LOVE THEM! Hate to say it but Pat needs to re-evaluate what he says in the light of people who do not believe.. def not a good move..

Pat Robertson, for someone who should supposely be the link between human and God, is not leading by example. You are seriously loosing what you have left, which is sanity. it is shameful and pitifull for someone of your”intelligence” to vehiculate those hurtful, incoherent, nonsense and degrading comments about Haitians, who are proud of their Heritage, Culture, the legacy left by their Ancestors to them. Actually when we analyze and really think about your patern, one should realize that, it is not entirely your fault. In fact the Era you believe to be living in is far over. Today, people need facts in order to believe you. it is almost impossible to fool the entire people. Thanks God that there is only a very tiny, a very small like an atom minority who share and believe in your narrow minded, low-class, stupid ideas and believe. No wonder why there is no peace around the world. An insane like you should be sent to a ward for a psychiatric evaluation. GOD BELONG TO EVERYBODY AND LOVES ALL OF US EQUALLY. For my Haitians brothers and sisters, it is only a test, you have being through a lot, you manage to come up strong, you can do it. Do not give up, the entire world share your pain.

People react negatively without thinking. Haiti was steeped in voodoo and demonic cults. As I lay on my bed yesterday, I had God’s name repeated not only by Haitians but alos by network commentators several times, One Haitian victim even had a cap on with the inscrption `Jesus’.

I am afraid that Pat Robertson has turned many away from the righteous ways of God. There is a great penalty to pay for such words, acts, and beliefs. Please, Pat, fall to your knees, repent mightily, and recant these and other words that you have spewed venomously for years. Turn your face away from Satan and remove yourself from the political process. Your mind is poisoned by Satan, your heart is unclean, and your soul is facing eternal damnation.
